Lee & Meredith Reddmann

Nickname:  friends call Meredith “Mere”

How long have you been doing CrossFit?  2-3 Months

Where do you work at?  What is your position?  What do you do there?

Lee – Self-Employed – Consultant/Accountant – Usually whatever my clients want.

Meredith- Alcon Laboratories, Inc.-Senior Medical Sales Representative- sell products used after eye surgery

What is your favorite thing to do on the weekend?

Lee – Fly Fish

Meredith-relax, but be active of some way (hiking, running, cycling).

What is your favorite cheat meal?

Lee - Pizza – Probably Mellow Mushroom to be more specific.

Meredith-Pizza or Mexican (salsa/dip and chips are my fave, I can eat my weight in them)

Describe your first WOD with CrossFit Little Rock?

Lee – I can’t remember exactly what it was, but my buddy Walt Howard who goes to the 5:30 am class warned me it was going to be a rough one and he was correct.

Meredith-I remember it very vividly, not quite sure of the name but when we (Lee and I) walked in Jake (our coach) looked at the both of us and said, “man, you guys have a really hard WOD for your first one.  Just do what you can.”

It was the one that went 100, 90, 80, 70, 60, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10 and I don’t remember all of the exercises but took us 45 minutes to complete it.

What was the catalyst that made you think, “I have to start working out” or “change your current work routine”?

Lee – My wife had wanted to try CrossFit or something similar for some time, so we looked around at several options and based on many reasons, CrossFit Little Rock was what we decided and I am very happy with the decision we made.

Meredith-I have always been active some way, but was interested in CrossFit because of the way I heard/saw you physically exerted yourself.   It is something that pushes you every day and is extremely challenging.

Describe your most memorable experience with us?

Lee – Seeing Jason Roberts with a busted up shin, because couldn’t quite make one of his box jumps and continuing to workout and FINISHING the WOD. Every day is a good experience at CrossFit Little Rock.  The people and coaches really make it the highlight of my day.

Meredith-ugh, SNATCHES and Front Squats, can I say more?  Jake keeps telling me, “be patient, you’ll get stronger, you can’t do this stuff overnight.”

How has being apart of CrossFit Little Rock changed your life? (i.e. weight loss, health benefits, completed a 5K, etc.)

Lee – I have lost a few pounds, but have recently started eating better and hopefully this will accelerate my weight loss.

Meredith-I am starting to see the benefits, I am getting leaner and stronger.  Lee and I made a commitment after the holidays to eat cleaner and have been doing that.  How has CrossFit changed my life?  I am generally an anxious person, and CrossFit has helped me manage my anxiety because it is such a release for me.  I love that it is something my husband and I can do together.

What is your favorite WOD and why?

Lee – It’s a lot easier for me to remember the ones I hate.  I quit on the 3rd day of “The 12 days of Christmas”, so that is probably my least favorite workout.

Meredith-I like anything that has the basic movements, i.e. push-ups (although I suck at them), pull-ups and running.  I am not great at the Olympic lifts but am getting better everyday.

What is your favorite movement and why?

Lee – I really like all of the Olympic lifts, but the clean would probably be my favorite.

Meredith – I would have to say push-jerk or cleans.  I am getting better at the movement and form and like the power behind both moves.

What are some of your current goals in CrossFit?

Lee – I want to develop better form on the lifts.  I would also like to improve my stamina and continue to improve my times on the workouts.  Those of you who don’t have it, purchase the app myWOD, it helps you keep track of workouts.  It’s really easy to do, once you get it going.  It’s also where I go to see the workout of the day before class.

Meredith – I want to get better at the major lifts, for instance, snatches and squats.  My hip flexibility is terrible.  The ultimate goal for me is to be in better shape at 39 than ever and this is a journey.  But one MAJOR  goal, I have is to complete 5 strict pull-ups on my own, I have never been able to perform a pull-up and am still using the bands.
